A Little peak into my sketchbook.

I've sort of been on a bird kick for awhile now, hopefully I'll get some new paintings underway in the near future.

A little name bone I made for my Marley mutt for fun.

Quilt Pattern

This quilt pattern goes along with the Goldilocks series I have been working on. I designed it for the endsheets.

Edge

The University of the Arts puts out a magazine called Edge and when I received my most recent issue I found an article they published about the Ely Exhibit. It's short and sweet but it's nice to see them acknowledge the illustration department's hard work.

Birdhouse

Acmoore was having a sale. I bought this little birdhouse for $3 and then had some fun.

The Story of Chicken Little

(original)

This is a painting I had done during the school year as a side project. I ended up having to repaint the original in order to show it in my portfolio without cutting Cocky-Locky in half. I feel like it was a good choice because the characters were a little too close together. Overall I am much happier with the new one.

(redo)

I decided to keep going with this side project during my spare time this summer and finish up what I started. I got a lot of good initial reactions from people about these characters so I figured I'd see what I could do with it.

crabby

it's finally starting to feel a little like summer!

Treasure Chest

Upon Graduation the craftier side of me started to take over a little. I made this Treasure Chest/Jewelry box for our portfolio day in New York to display my promotional key chains in. It all started with an old cigar box I bought off the street for $3 and just went from there. I really enjoy the way it turned out and am hoping to do some more of these in the future.

Portfolio Day

The days are counting down until the 14th annual Portfolio Day Hosted by The University of the Arts Illustration Department. This year it is to be held at the Open House Gallery in New York City. It's a chance for all 48 graduating seniors to show off work to the many Art Directors and Associates that have been invited. Sorry for the wait!

So it's been quite some time since I've given any updates, but the madness wasn't over after the ELY came to a close. Which, speaking of I'd like to start out by saying Thank you to everyone who came out. The turnout was unbelievable. Family, friends, fellow students (from all different departments!), staff, and former graduates all came out to show their support! The judges had their work cut out for them but in the end they decided to choose two winners and five honorable mentions
Winners
Katelyn Rose Lewis
Honorable Mention

This was a huge surprise for me, and even now so long after it's still hard to believe it really happened. It was a moment in my life I will never forget. I couldn't have done it without the help and advise of the staff, my fellow seniors, friends, and family so once again Thank you.

And there's one last very special Thank you I'd like to say to my Mother Dearest. I Love you and Thank you for everything you have done!

ELY

Everyone worked together as a team and were so willing to help. With these efforts we were able to get everything on the wall and cleaned up just as the judges were walking in. So I'd just Like to say Thank you to you all.

A Quick Review

Well, it's second semester of senior year here at The University of The Arts and our senior thesis has just wrapped up and the craziness has yet to subside. Our Elys have been taken out of our hands until the hanging on March 24th and we've been given a whole new mess of things to work on such as... our WEBSITES! I just finished mine up and put it live. It's pretty crazy to think I just built my own website (but not without the help of my teachers and fellow studiomates of course!) I mean it's nothing special yet but hopefully soon enough I'll learn the programs a little better and be able to make something more of it.

But either way...Katelynroselewis.com
